Media people never learn their lesson. Particularly those who make their living passing judgment from a TV studio while a bunch of regular citizens are sitting through the day-to-day workings of a high-profile trial.
Anthony was acquitted of murdering her 2-year-old daughter Caylee in what may be the most highly publicized trial since O.J. Simpson was accused of killing his wife and another man.
Anthony had been convicted by TV hosts like Nancy Grace and any number of other analysts who took turns picking apart her defense attorneys' strategy, trial testimony, and Anthony's every frown, wince or sneer in court.
None of that matters.
The only opinion that matters is that of the 12 citizens in the box and there is no way for any of us or anyone on TV to know what was going through their minds.
So, the young woman who partied while her daughter was missing (and later found dead) will get to party again.
And so, too, will the TV personalities who make their living on trials like this.
The saddest, most sobering and most awful aspect of the verdict is the same as it was after O.J. was acquitted. No matter what you may believe about the trial, an innocent person is dead -- in this case a child -- and whoever is responsible for it is walking free.
